Australia’s Best Pools is a unique lifestyle program to hit the 9 Network. A first-of-its-kind show that celebrates the country’s best pools and spas. Exploring everything from design to completion and hosted by renowned landscape artist Dave Franklin (The Block). This series takes viewers through the Covid-19 shift of Australians investing in pools as an extension of their homes. Filled with inspiring concepts and forward-thinking designs, Australia’s Best Pools is the perfect show for anyone looking to have their own backyard paradise.
Coming off the back of two wins at the 2022 SPASA Awards of Excellence, Feature Pools founder, Ryan Aitken, got the chance to chat about our newly completed Balwyn project.
The first element to stand out about this design is the unique tiling work that seamlessly continues from inside to out—creating an infinity waterfall effect. Working to the client’s needs, we chose a sleek, grey porcelain tile from The Pavé Co. The tiles reflect a calm and modern turquoise hue. Seamlessly fitting into the environment to not overwhelm the rest of the outdoor area.
This detail-oriented project had a 4 to 5-month timeline and involved close collaboration with the very talented Nathan Burkett. Nathan is a Melbourne-based landscape designer notorious for elegant and understated design. Every dimension of this project has been meticulously designed to create a unique pool-compliant barrier with a minimalist effect. Boasting only two glass fences and modern Polaris soft closing hinges. The pool is also a statement from day to night and is perfect for entertaining. Beautifully lit when the sun sets thanks to numerous in-pool ambient light fittings.

Built with smart automation from the ground up, this pool has everything. From a balance tank to continue the circling of overflowing water, to in-floor cleaning. The pool has fitted heat pumps and gas heaters for the spa. The client can also enjoy this sustainable pool all year round, as it is fully powered by solar energy.
