What a thrilling time for you and your family – you’ve decided to build your dream swimming pool! This process should be fun and exciting, so follow our expert advice with these 6 key stages to avoid common setbacks and delays.

Depending on the complexity of your design and existing property landscape, it can take at least 3 months to build a pool. It’s important to work alongside your pool builders with clarity and transparency to ensure a smooth process throughout the stages.

Let’s get you enjoying hot summer days and BBQs with friends on those warm nights!

Stage 1 – Paperwork and responsibilities

We will organise the engineering, insurance, soil report and building permit on your behalf. The key items you need to action include:

  • pool fencing
  • electrical connections (power points, earth wire, and switches for lighting)
  • plumbing connections (backwash point and water point)

After all these items are in place, a construction start date is set.

Stage 2 – Excavation and steel fixing

After your pool is ‘marked out’, the excavation works begin. Once complete, a temporary fence will be installed around the pool for safety reasons. Next step: all the structural steel work is installed, and the pool interior is pre-plumbed and pressure tested.

Stage 3 – Concreting and plumbing: your pool is coming to life!

The concrete is poured to form the foundation of your new pool. There is a 28-day ‘cure’ time before final works can take place. This ensures your pool is strong enough to withstand thousands of litres of water and that it lasts for many years to come.

During the curating period, we begin the tile selection process. We have a range of stunning sample tiles to help you achieve the desired look.

Now is also the time to book your pool fence installation. You can also get your electrical works underway, and plumbing works can continue.

Stage 4 – Tiling and electricals

Tilers can now do their bit, working in conjunction with other trades. Although we do our best to complete the tiling as quickly as possible, the job is weather dependent and sometimes there are unavoidable delays.

During this stage, the pool filtration and heating systems you have selected will also be installed.

Stage 5 – Inspection and completion: your pool is almost ready.

An inspection of your pool area will be arranged with a building surveyor. Once the inspection is passed, we can fill your pool with water using your mains water supply – this can take 2 to 3 days. Once filled, we will commission and balance the water – and just like that, you’re ready to jump in!

We always complete a thorough handover within 2 to 4 weeks after the pool is filled. This is our opportunity to show you how to use everything, such as the pool filtration system, heating and pool cover.

Stage 6 – Servicing and maintenance

We understand you want your pool looking its best without the hassle. With our Care service, we can take care of everything you need – cleaning, testing, repairs and maintenance – on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis depending on your requirements, leaving you with a pool that can be enjoyed year-round.
